Rex v. Alfred George Brimble.
Charge feloniously killing and slaying one Tsang Chak on 3rd. August 1903, at Yaumati in this colony.
Plea not guilty. Juty sworn. Mr Attorney General prosecuted (Sir W. Berkeley A.G.) Mr Blade defends.
Mr Attorney General opens the ease and says accused was an Aeting Poliee Sergeant and killed deceased, and ealls: - Duncan McDonald Sworn Inspectof of Police at Yaumati. I remember Tsang Chak coming to the station on 3rd August at 8.20 p.m. He made a complaint. I had the man Tsang Chak sent to the Government Civil Hospital that evening about 9 p.m. On the 7th August, I went to the Government Civil Hospital and to the ward where Tsang Chak was. He was the same matas made the eomplaint. Mr. Sercombe-Smith was there, but when the Interpreter spoke to Tsang Chak he was too far gone to speak. He died while I was in the hospital that night. I subsequent- ly had the defendant arrested. He was then in the Police Foree Acting Sergeant. I charged kim. When he was arrested I gave him the usual caution and he made the statement (read) put in.
Recuvalot Crossexamined by Mr Slade. The dosessed was not arrested till 8th. The house in Temple Street is 300 or 400 yards from the Station. There seems to be no entry against him in defaulter'a sheet while in the police force. One of the witnesses Lai Shu was I believe in the police force. The record I produce shows that a man Lal Shu was dismissed in Autumn of 1901. I eannot
